Originally launched as a community martial arts program, Ninjas focused on teaching sparring and self-defense in a relaxed, inclusive environment. As our members’ passion for the sport grew, so did our identity—and Ninjas proudly returned to its roots as a World Taekwondo-affiliated club.
Today, our focus remains on sparring and fight education, with a deep respect for the technique, philosophy, and foundations of martial arts. We believe in teaching discipline and confidence through dynamic training that keeps kids engaged and empowered.
We are proud members of Taekwondo New Zealand and affiliated with World Taekwondo. All Ninjas students are eligible to grade for their internationally recognized Kukkiwon black belt.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, focused on upright fighting. It is known for it’s fast dynamic kicking. A full contact sport, Taekwondo became an official Olympic sport at the 2000 Sydney Games. Players score points kicking their opponents body pad or head guard. Punches are allowed to the body, but not to the face. Grabbing is not allowed.
At Ninjas, we practice sparring in controlled drills until members are confident in free sparring situations.
